Shock Troopers' Very Brief Review...

Yesterday, I finish playing Shock Troopers 1 and 2. They are old games, shooting-action games similar to Metal Slug. But in my opinion, they are more fun than Metal Slug because the character movement is more flexible.

In Metal Slug, we can only move our character from left to right, but in Shock Troopers, we can move them anywhere we like since we see the character from upper view. And this also add some difficulties of playing it ;). And of course-more fun :D..

Shock Troopers 1 is modest in graphics (what can you say to 1997's game :P) but I believe in their era the graphics can be categorized as good. The really nice feature from Shock Troopers 1 is we can select 8 different characters. Each characters have their own attributes. Some can move slowly but have deadly attack and some can move faster while slightly damage the enemy.
And we can select two mode game, lonely or team mode. In lonely mode, we play only one character from the beginning until the end. In team mode, we can choose up to three characters and switch them in-game while we need their special capabilities. Very useful feature ;). We also can select the route our character will take to the enemy stronghold. And this is the very nice feature I like from shooting-action game like this..

Shock Troopers 2 shows major improvements in graphics with release date only differ by 1 year (1998). But the drawbacks are now we can only select 4 characters and the number of stages are only 5. So it would be ended shortly. So sad, because I think everyone who plays Shock Troopers 2 will expect more stages to come. Another drawback is the route can only be selected at the beginning of game, unlike Shock Troopers 1 which offers route changing at some point in the game. Overall, this is a very good shooting-action game. Saurus has done a very good job by making this game :).

If you ask me, I prefer to play Shock Troopers 2 despite of its drawbacks ;).

Very busy recently...

I've been very very busy recently doing InfoVista project for Excelcommindo..
Last year, I was a dumb supervisor accompanying InfoVista professional consultant. But this year, I had an opportunity of doing the project myself.

It's a golden opportunity to show that I'm capable of being a professional consultant as well ;).
I should thank my boss for always supporting me and letting me take any InfoVista training and workshop whenever available :)...

If I did it myself, maybe I still can do it, but not this good.
Well, I still have to save a lot for my current family and my future family so if I don't join a company that give me a lot room to improving my skill, then I'll be nobody :)...

And it's very nice working with SUN's IT professional. They are so damn good and nice too ;).

Valentine history...

Do you know the real story of Valentine? I don't know whether it's only a myth or not, but here it goes :

It was said that Valentine iss a priest living in Rome on third century. He lived in Rome kingdom lead by notorious Claudius Emperor. He hate the Emperor very much because Claudius had ambition that every young people join his military army and goes to war with him.

But Claudius' willing was not obeyed by his people. Rome men hesitated to be involved in war because they didn't want to left their family and lover. This made Claudius very angry and he ordered his loyal follower to execute crazy idea.

He thought that if every men are unmarried, then they will be grateful to join his military. So Claudius forbade marriage in his kingdom. Every young couple perceived this new regulations as a mad one but they didn't dare not to obey him.

But St. Valentine, being a priest, reject his emperor order and he kept blessing young couple falling in love. He did that in a small chapel which is only lit by candles, without flower and wedding songs. His action was later known by Claudius, who immediately alarmed him to stop it. St. Valentine neglected that warning and made Claudius mad.

So shortly Claudius ordered his troops to seize St. Valentine and St. Valentine was caught in the act while blessing a young lover. The couple did manage to escape but St. Valentine was arrested. He was imprisoned and given death verdict by Claudius.

This time, it seems Claudius would win a huge victory. But St. Valentine despite in prison, got many visitor and support from them. They also often throwed flowers and messages embracing St. Valentine.

And one of Rome people who believe in love was a daughter of prison gatekeeper. The gatekeeper permitted his daughter to visit St. Valentine in prison. People said that they were talking each other hourly. That girl raised up St. Valentine's spirit by telling him that he had done the right thing.

So in the day St. Valentine will be executed, he wrote a letter for that girl thanking for all attention, caring and help while he was lonely in prison. In the end of the letter, Valentine was being said to write "With love, from your Valentine". St. Valentine was executed in the 14th day of February.

That message would be passed from one generation to the other generation to admire St. Valentine as love martyr. Now every February 14th, people all around the world will celebrate it as Valentine's day.....

Back to my hometown...

It feels really good back to my hometown again :).
This evening I got a meeting with telkom guys here...
That's why I have the opportunity of going back to where I belong once more ;).
Bandung is really nice. Despite there are many factory outlets here, which are annoying because they tend to be the caused of traffic jams here, in my opinion Bandung is far better than Jakarta...

I really enjoy living in Bandung. Every breath of it!

I wouldn't object if someday I must spend the rest of my life here. I think I'll do that if I have been pension :)

Gong Xi Fa Chai!

Gong Xi Fa Chai! May this year brings us more prosperity and good fortune :).

The best thing about new year holiday is we have time on our own. We can use it anyway we like, whether use it for rest, for playing games, for listening to music, for watching anime or for workout as much as we like :D. It's rare occasion for me to be able to use time for things I want to do and not things I have to do.

So sad, this holiday will over so soon :(. But anyway, this new year must be filled with new spirit and new soul. May the best happens in this year ;).

24 hours...

Sometimes my colleagues and friends ask me why I don't have a girlfriend until now. And why I don't search for one...

It reminds me of how my uncle used to scold me in the past because in his eyes I was a lazy guys that didn't have any willingness to do anything. He encouraged me to take any single course that he thought would benefit me. That was happened when I was a teenager..

One thing that slips into my mind at that time is how come? My parents at that time had no money at all for paying those things. I know it for sure! I had been lucky enough I could go to school and didn't end up in the street like anybody else....

But today, it's a really different story since now I had climbed the hill a little bit and still keep on climbing ;). And when the question is come up, I only can say nothing since my business now takes almost all of my lifetime. Sometimes I even think 24 hours isn't enough! Damn....

Someday somehow, this must come to the end and I'll find my princess...(and life happily ever after as always said in bedtime stories :P)

Tips howto keep your body healthy and slim..

Workaholics sometimes are correlated with obesity. That's because they need more energy and they tend to eat junk food or snacks. So if you like to work at off office hours but still want to keep your body in good shape, you can follow this tips below :
  • Eat dinner regularly - Dinner should be eat before 19.00 pm because after 19.00 pm, our body metabolism is decreasing. So if you're too busy to go out for dinner, then always prepare healthy food in your desk. Or maybe it's easier to get office boys to buy it for you, if you're afraid your food will spoil ;).
  • Consume only healthy snacks - Heatlhy snacks means snacks having a lot of fibre. So in this case, they are variety of fruits! Forget about sweet white chocolate or potato chips, etc.
  • Eat only decent and supportive digestion food - Food for dinner must contain a lot of carbohydrate and fibre. Avoid spicy food and don't eat too much for dinner ;). Between 22.00 pm until 06.00 am, consume only warm milk or fruits...
  • Don't hesitate to drink - If you're work much, don't forget to drink much too. Because dehydration can cause body be fatigue easily. But don't drink much caffeine such as coffee or coke...
  • Exercising a little bit - Always remember to workout a little everyday. You can do it every 15 minutes after wake up in the morning for example.
  • Have a proper rest - Sleep is important to preserve energy for another hectic day. Just make sure that you don't have insomnia because of work activities.

Cheapest Internet Service Provider in Indonesia

If you're an internet maniac who loves to surf for hours and you don't have so much money to subscribe to any service provider for using their services, then you're lucky now. Because now, there is fastnet from firstmedia company which offers you a very interesting products. As you can see from the images above, fastnet offers maybe the cheapest unlimited internet packages.

Well, I used to work for Internet Service Provider for two years, so I can tell you whether the price for their services is cheap or not. And fastnet is incrediblely cheap (in Indonesia). But how about the performance? Is it as good as they claim? From what I read in many forums, in the earlier month, the services are very good, near what they have claimed. But after many people subscribe for their services, then the speed plummets.

It's usually happened in every service provider in Indonesia as the bandwidth is shared among all customers. Maybe we must wait for years before the internet in Indonesia is as cheap as in Singapore or Malaysia...;)

TelkomVision, cheap alternative for home entertainment

If you're a movie lover and most of the time you watch movie in your living room, then Cable tv or Satellite tv must be a must for you ;). Traditional broadcast tvs, even they are free, are full of advertisement and the movies they have usually are out of date.

In Indonesia, they are some companies offering paid tv services. For example: Kablevision, AstroTv, and one which I will discuss a little bit - Telkomvision. Usually they offer their services in packages. So for example, if you subscribe to package C then you'll have channel a,b,c being streamed to your living room. If you want another channel then either you upgrade the services or you subscribe to additional channel (and of course pay more!).

So because of this scheme, then the rate is not really affordable for Indonesian people. That's what differs TelkomVision to another competitor. TelkomVision recently offer what they call prepaid tv services. In prepaid scheme, customer can choose packages in very small packages. Basically, it's just full tv packages splitted into many small tv packages. But this scheme will help Indonesian people to subscribe to their service.

TelkomVision offers this scheme into their direct to home services (satellite tv) and cable services (cable tv). The list of their offers for both services are listed below :
  1. Dunia Anak (Children's world - Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney) - Rp 50.000,-
  2. Berita (News - CNN, BBC, CNBC) - Rp 40.000,-
  3. Film Pelangi (Rainbow Movie - Star Movies, MGM, Celestial Movies) - Rp 60.000,-
  4. Olahraga (Sports - ESPN, Star Sports, Ten Sports) - Rp 60.000,-
  5. Paket Laga (Action Movie - AXN, Animax, Discovery Real Time) - Rp 50.000,-
  6. Film Laris (Box Office Movie - HBO, HBO Signature, Cinemax) - Rp 65.000,-
  7. Metropolitan (Metropolitan - FTV, Hallmark, Discovery Travel and Living, E! Entertainment, Asian Food Channel) - Rp 60.000,-
  8. Musik (Music Channel - MTV, V Channel) - Rp 65.000,-
  9. Pendidikan (Education Channel - National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, NHK Premium) - Rp 40.000,-

For using their services, customer must have satellite dish and Telkomvision decoder if customer want to subscribe for TelkomVision's Direct to Home service. Then they must purchase the voucher for services listed above before they can watch TelkomVision's broadcast.

TelkomVision once again provide customers a new way for home entertainment ;). Good job...

Ophiuchus, the 13th zodiac...

Hey, do you know there is another zodiac in western astrology which is not being used?
Ophiuchus is the name of the forgotten zodiac. It is symbolized as human holding a giant snake. Not a pleasant picture :P...

If ophiuchus is counted in the western astrology then there will be change like what we can see in list below :
  • Sagitarius -> 22 Nov - 21 Dec -> change into -> 18 Dec - 18 Jan
  • Capricorn -> 22 Dec - 19 Jan -> change into -> 19 Jan - 15 Feb
  • Aquarius -> 20 Jan - 18 Feb -> change into -> 16 Feb - 11 Mar
  • Pisces -> 19 Feb - 20 Mar -> change into -> 12 Mar - 18 Apr
  • Aries -> 21 Mar - 19 Apr -> change into -> 19 Apr - 13 May
  • Taurus -> 20 Apr - 20 May -> change into -> 14 May - 19 Jun
  • Gemini -> 21 May - 21 Jun -> change into -> 20 Jun - 20 Jul
  • Cancer -> 21 Jun - 23 Jul -> change into -> 21 Jul - 9 Aug
  • Leo -> 23 Jul - 22 Aug -> change into -> 10 Aug - 15 Sep
  • Virgo -> 23 Aug - 22 Sep -> change into -> 16 Sep - 30 Oct
  • Libra -> 23 Sep - 22 Oct -> change into -> 31 Oct - 22 Nov
  • Scorpio -> 23 Oct - 21 Nov -> change into -> 23 Nov - 29 Nov
  • Opiuchus -> N/A -> change into -> 30 Nov - 17 Dec

So in this case, my new zodiac will be Gemini...? Well, if I take a look at my personality trait, then I conclude that mine is classified as 100% Cancer. So in my opinion then, maybe Ophiucus won't be able to participate in western astrology anyway. The current version is already correct, we don't need to enhance it by adding Ophiuchus into it....;)

The Most Expensive Mobile Phone...Ever?

Japanese company called Softbank launched maybe the most expensive mobile phone in the world. This mobile phone is priced at $94000 (almost Rp 90.000.000,-). Wow..it would take me years for saving any single penny of my salary before I can afford this gadget :P.

So what's so special about this mobile phone that makes it so expensive? Any single 3G phone in the market would not cost you $94000, would they? Can you guess it? The answer is :

Diamonds!

This beast is equipped with 400 diamonds! Can you imagine that, carrying 400 diamonds in your pocket everywhere you go? Well, if you already have a great amount of money which you are confused of how to spend them, just take this thing and give it to your girlfriend. I bet she will be truly happy!

Free virtual cd control panel

If you want to save your money to buy alcohol120%, but have a necessity to read iso images in windows xp, you can try to download small 60 kb tools from microsoft at this URL :

This is a tiny virtual cd offered for free by microsoft. Hey, how come microsoft does offers something for free? This is really unusual, but personally I don't care anyway since this tools is really helpful :)..

We don't need to install it. Just unzip it to any folder you like. And then double click VCdControlTool.exe and then click Add Drive button. That action will add virtual drive in your pc. Next step is to click Mount button. It will open a browse window. Please select the images you want to read. This awesome tool can read iso, udf, cdfs, jo or rock images.

Have fun ^_^
